  * Madeira is famous for big waves and it is difficult to find surfing conditions for an intermediate level. The island is surrounded by huge swell and outsides are definitely more for advanced surfers but if you are at an intermediate you will be equally happy with the smaller inside waves in the beginner’s surf spot just next to the Guesthouse. 
  

The goal of Madeira Surf & Travel Camp is to have fun surfing with the best local surf school but also to explore the island, which is exceptionally beautiful due to its majestic nature, amazing landscapes and the charm of its inhabitants and towns.

About the Guesthouse

A guesthouse in the heart of the village and historic area of Porto da Cruz, Madeira, underwent a complete renovation in 2020 to provide comfortable and safe accommodations in a centenary house.

The terrace's rehabilitation has transformed it into the highlight of the property. It features a sunbathing solarium, a refreshing shower, and an outdoor barbecue for meals. Nestled in the exotic northeast of Madeira Island, it provides 360º views of the sea and mountains surrounding the village.

The lower floor houses a fully equipped kitchen and a living room in a single space for meals or relaxation on the sofa. A complete bathroom is also on this floor, shared with all guests.

The property is surrounded by banana plantations, vineyards, and it is only 15 km from the International Airport and 30 km from the centre of Funchal. The beach and all the necessary services are just a few meters from the Surf Camp.

About Porto da Cruz

The village of Porto da Cruz is located on the northern coast of Madeira Island, between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches of Porto da Cruz are especially suitable for beginner surfers as they are the only ones with volcanic black sand with surfable waves. Porto da Cruz still preserves its traditions, with a relaxed lifestyle and a very hospitable local culture. In the area, there are several restaurants where you can taste the regional gastronomy, such as fresh fish, seafood and other traditional Madeiran dishes, as well as wines and spirits.


The village does not have a very busy nightlife like other surfing destinations in Portugal, however if you are looking for a closer contact with nature and a relaxed lifestyle then this is your place to go.

How to book a place? 

Bookings are open until the last bed  ! We have only 2 beds left for 21-28 September and 16-23 October is to be confirmed.

To book a place an advance payment of 399 € is required. Deadline for the rest of the payment 3 months before your arrival. Bookings for all extra activities are required  two weeks before the surf camp and expected
to be paid a day before they are planned.
