Why Girl on the Wave?

Girl on the Wave Summer surf camps are placed in Ericeira the most beautiful surfing town in Portugal. Ericeira is one of several World Surfing Reserves and the only one in Europe where waves are consistent, diverse and powerful. Ericeira used to be a little fisherman’s village but with a growing surf industry became a surfer’s paradise not only because of the natural 5km surfable coast but also an active surfing infrastructure and a lovely surfing vibe.

Girl on the Wave Summer surf camps are focused on female surfing needs and Women’s encouragement to enforce equality in the surfing world but Men who respect those rules are very welcomed and Girl on the Wave surf camps are getting booked by amazing guys as well. So boys and girls you are welcomed to join us as a single, in the couple or in a bigger group with no age limit.

WHAT ARE POSSIBLE TIMINGS OF GIRL ON THE WAVE SUMMER SURF CAMPS 2024?

What is the plan of each surf camp?

- 7 nights accommodation is 2-3 pax rooms with private bathrooms

- 7 healthy breakfasts and 5 tasty dinners with a private chef (including Portuguese fish menu)

- 5 surfing lessons (waves for all surf levels, best coaching and video recordings (team of dedicated surf instructors open to follow your surf level and create a comfort zone to challenge you for more)

- 4 surf workshops with a special learning program of video analysis combined with surf tutorials, surf theory, forecasts and Ocean’s environment

- 5 morning/sunset yoga practises with a dedicated teacher

- body & mind and breathing classes

- summer activities, concerts, surf movie screenings and other leisures 

- airport group transfers both ways (5:00 PM arrival day and 11:00 AM departure day) and a driver ready to help on place at anytime

The international team is always ready for you at Girl on the Wave Summer surf camps are: Tiago Pires Surf School surf coaches (Portugal and Brazil), Jamie (UK) the chef, Gaby (Venezuela) our yoga teacher, Sonia our body& mind coach (Portugal) and surf camp manager Margherita (Poland) who navigates you on place, takes part in surf lessons and runs surf workshops for you. We also invite inspiring guests and we take our guests to surf movie festivals, concerts and live events gathering surfers in town.

ABOUT ME

My name is Margherita and I am a founder of Girl on the Wave surf project based in Ericeira, Portugal. I’ve been catching waves since 2014 and I am a dedicated surfer and surf camp provider in Portugal and other parts of the world. I’ve been surfing in Portugal, Spain, France, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Iceland, Puerto Rico, Tahiti, Costa Rica and Panama. Always open to discover more.

My work is focused on creating a worldwide living surf community by connecting people who love surfing with proper local surf infrastructure sharing the same passion for the Ocean plus diverse perspectives and experience in surfing.

About GIRL ON THE WAVE SURF projecT

It was launched in the time of WSL QS Competition in Ericeira 2018 with the opening of first surf camp within the original surf learning program including theory, practice and video analysis.

The main purpose of the project is to support all surfers joining for a surf camp or an individual practise and to help them gain a satisfying progress in surfing and to fulfill their surfing dreams.

The process of surf learning is deep and vaste as an Ocean and not everyone struggles with the same. That’s why individual approach (even in group lessons) with a personal video analysis is the crutial part of the program. The goal is to avoid repeating the same mistakes very hard to unlearn.

Girl on the Wave practise of different levels students evidently show that the right progress always comes faster if people get an opportunity to analyse their surfing steps in the real time. Not only on intermediate or advanced but also (if not mostly) on the beginner level.
